Dennis began a deep-dive into the book of Romans about a decade ago because the letter “just didn’t make sense.” After a period of intensive study, he decided to memorize the entire letter. This led to performing the letter, start to finish, as a stage play for various audiences over the past 7 years. These performances have functioned as a “spatial exegetical lab,” allowing Dennis to test the traditional interpretations of the letter and see if they actually work when delivering the letter orally and in an embodied way as it would have been experienced in Paul’s first century. This process has uncovered the complexity and the coherence of the letter like never before. Dennis is working on a book, The Prodigal Kingdom (forthcoming), to share these insights with the world.

Dennis is a US Navy veteran and spent 25 years working in the private sector as a project and program manager. He recently completed a Master of Arts in Religion (Biblical Studies) at Trinity Anglican Seminary (Ambridge, PA). He also earned a BS in Psychology and and MS in Education. He and his wife Dawn live in Northern Virginia with three herding dogs of varying sizes - and no herds.
